The Original Puffin Island Cruise!
Join us aboard the Island Princess for a 75 minute cruise along the Menai Straits to Puffin Island, where you have the opportunity to view an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat, including guillemots, cormorants, kittiwakes, razorbills and of course the puffin. The east end of the island is home to a colony of grey seals and you may be lucky in spotting a bottlenose dolphin or harbour porpoise! Also included in the cruise is the panoramic scenery of the Snowdonia mountain range, Anglesey’s unique coastline, Penmon Lighthouse and other historic sights bordering the Straits.
Not just a cruise but a complete guided tour with full commentary from experienced local crews.
Well-behaved dogs welcome and travel for free!
Unless otherwise stated, all trips depart from Beaumaris Pier. You will need to call at our booking kiosk at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time to collect your boarding cards and pay any balance due; please bring your booking confirmation or payment receipt with you. We are unable to delay departure if you are late so please allow sufficient travelling time.
All trips are weather permitting so you are strongly advised to check prior to joining us whether we are able to sail as planned; this is especially important if you are travelling just to join us. We cannot be held responsible for any costs or inconvenience you may incur if you fail to confirm your trip with us or we are unable to contact you in the event of any last-minute cancellation or change. Please call us on 01248 810379 after 09:30 on the morning of your trip to confirm whether your trip will sail as planned.
What to Bring
You are strongly advised to bring suitable clothing with you as it is often cooler out at sea. If you’re still feeling the chill, we have a limited number of blankets available onboard – ask your crew if you’d like to borrow one.
We will do our best to get you as close as possible to the wildlife without disturbing nesting birds, but you may want to bring a pair of binoculars with you for that close-up view. And of course don’t forget your camera!
Starida Sea Services is a local, family owned business based in the historic town of Beaumaris on the island of Anglesey. We have been operating in the pleasure boat industry for over 40 years and in that time have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience meaning that you can be assured of the best possible service when you book with us. All our skippers and crews are highly experienced mariners, qualified in accordance with Coastguard standards and all our vessels are regularly inspected to ensure their safety and your comfort.
We are proud to be accredited under the WiSe Scheme which is a scheme overseen by the Welsh Government to promote responsible wildlife-watching through training, accreditation and awareness-raising. For more details on the scheme, please visit wisescheme.org. Starida are also proud to work with a number of conservation and research organisations throughout the year so you can be assured that what you hear onboard is as up-to-date as possible!
Whilst easy to board, all vessels may pose accessibility issues at times. We have prepared an Access Statement which is available upon request to help you judge the potential ease of access for yourself but if you are at all unsure, please contact us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements ahead of your visit.
