Booking Notes

Thank you for booking with Starida Sea Services, Anglesey’s ORIGINAL Puffin Island cruises & fishing trips.

This page contains important information about your booking: please read it carefully & contact us if you have any questions.

GENERAL NOTES

All cruises & fishing trips sail from Beaumaris Pier. Check in at our booking kiosk at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time & have your QR code ticket ready; this can be on your phone (including as a screenshot) or printed. If you are unable to access your QR code, please have your booking reference available.

We cannot delay departure for latecomers so please allow sufficient travelling time to get to us. If you do find yourself unavoidably delayed, please call us as we may be able to transfer your booking to a later time, depending on availability, but note that our cancellation policy applies in such circumstances.

In the event of significant changes to trips (including cancellations), we notify passengers by email & text. Except in cases of cancellation, you will only receive a text if you opted in to text notifications at time of booking. Notification emails & texts are system-generated so please make sure you have entered the correct email address & telephone number, paying particular attention to the country code (e.g. +44 for the UK, +1 for North America, +49 für Deutschland). We cannot guarantee to be able to contact all passengers by phone, particularly in the event of multiple or last-minute changes, & we prioritise those we know are travelling the furthest.

Please note that a booking confirmation is not to be taken as confirmation that any particular trip will sail as planned. If you are travelling a significant distance to join us, you are strongly advised to confirm that your trip will sail as planned prior to setting off. Where your trip is due to sail before 11:00, please call us on 01248 810379 between 19:00 & 20:00 on the evening before your trip. Otherwise call after 10:00 on the morning of your trip. Should you have any difficulty getting through on this number, please call 01248 810251.

We will refuse boarding to ANY person we suspect of being under the influence of drink or drugs. We do not tolerate any threatening, verbally or physically abusive behaviour, or intimidation directed at our staff & will deny boarding to anyone acting as such; where appropriate, we will also report any incident to the proper authorities.

If you have any questions about your booking or need to make changes, you can call 01248 810379 or email book@starida.co.uk. You may also be able to make changes to your booking yourself by following the ‘change your booking’ link in the booking confirmation email. Please note that we are not always able to respond to every email received, this is particularly the case after 16:00, so if you haven’t received a reply, please call.

All trips are subject to our standard conditions of carriage & cancellation policy.

We look forward to welcoming you on board & hope you will enjoy your trip. Until then, why not take a look at some other activities you might enjoy whilst visiting North Wales, you willl find suggestions at starida.co.uk/things-to-do. Most of these activities can be booked directly through our website.

WHAT TO BRING

You are strongly advised to bring suitable clothing as it can be cooler at sea & fishing can, by nature, be wet. Bear in mind that all our vessels are open so come suitably dressed for the conditions, especially if showers are forecast.

You will not be allowed to board any vessel without suitable footwear, with trainers or shoes as minimum on fishing trips.

TOILETS

The toilet facilities on board our vessels are not available to passengers, unless you are on a fishing trip aboard the Sarah Jane Too; it may not always be possible to tell you which vessel you are on until the day of your trip so it is best to assume that these facilities are not available.

Public toilets are available on Wall Street, near the kiosk/pier entrance.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR CRUISES

Please remember that the birds & animals are wild & we have no control over them. Whilst we do what we can to make sure you see as much of the wildlife as possible, we cannot guarantee what you will be able to see on any particular trip. Some of the bird species on Puffin Island (including puffins) are migratory & only come to land to breed. What you see during your visit depends on migration patterns & time of year: migratory birds are typically only on the island between late March & late July.

Leaders of large groups (e.g. coaches, school groups, etc) will find additional information on managing their visit on our website at starida.co.uk/groups. This information includes details of the check-in procedures for large groups: please make sure you are aware of these in advance.

We encourage passengers to send us any pictures they have taken during their trip. Many of the pictures sent in are featured on our website, with the best appearing in leaflets.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR FISHING TRIPS

Our skippers will use their experience of fishing in the waters around Anglesey & the Irish Sea, assisted by the electronic aids carried on board each vessel, to do what they can to maximise your chances of catching fish, but please remember that the very nature of fishing means there are no guarantees over being able to catch any specific species.

You are more than welcome to bring drinks & snacks with you but there are no facilities to heat food. Tea or coffee may be available on trips of 4 hours or longer. Please note that the consumption of alcohol is not permitted on fishing boats.

Rod hire is available on all trips & can be added or cancelled at any time. Specific bait can be ordered at cost & subject to availability- please contact us at least 7 days before your trip to discuss options. If you need advice on what tackle you’ll need for your trip, please call 01248 810251 between 19:00 & 20:00.

You are more than welcome to keep any fish you catch, but please only take what you need & can use. Returning unwanted fish to the sea ensures fish stocks remain at sustainable levels for future generations. In order to conserve stocks, we will not spend the duration of your trip targeting any particular species or in the same location.

Please note: our boats are intended for leisure fishing & are not commercial fishing boats. We reserve the right to deny boarding to any person we think may be intending to fish for commercial purposes.

Bags are available to take your catch home, these are not intended to carry fish over any significant distance. We restrict the sizes of containers allowed on board to normal domestic cool boxes.

Minimum size rules apply to all fish caught & special rules may apply to certain species at particular times of year. We use sharp objects such as hooks & knives during trips so please take extra care & supervise children appropriately as we cannot be help liable for any injuries sustained.
